At FUMCL, we offer discipleship and Christian educational opportunities to help us build up our knowledge and understanding of Jesus Christ. To do so, we provide a foundation for faith through Christ-centered and biblically based methods and materials, so that current and future generations will know and serve Christ. We seek to meet all people wherever they are on their personal faith journey and help them reach a deeper understanding of Jesus Christ and the salvation God offers through Him.
We offer a variety of ways to help us grow in discipleship, no matter where we are on our faith journey: We announce our studies through the Sunday bulletins and eRevelations, our weekly newsletter. Watch for more information as new studies become available.
Sunday School Classes
Our Sunday school takes place from 9:45 to 10:45 am, between our two worship services.
Children’s Sunday School
We offer classes, for children ages 2 through high school. For children through 3rd grade, we use the “Grow, Proclaim, Serve!” curriculum offered by Cokesbury. For children in grades 4 through high school, we use a variety of approved material to prepare our children for confirmation and for faithful living in today’s world. We invite all children to join us.
Adult Sunday School
We offer seven adult classes, which often study seven different topics using a wide variety of study materials and approaches. Most of our adult classes take on the atmosphere of small groups, and they engage in guided discussions expanding on the Bible and other material presented. We’re sure there is a group for you!
Small Group Studies
Our current small group studies include the following:
- A co-ed study led by Rev Ray, in the Fellowship Hal Tuesdays at 10:30 am.
- A men’s study led by Rev Ray, in Second Cup Café Tuesdays at 7:00 pm.
Vacation Bible School
Each summer, we offer a week-long Vacation Bible School in the evenings for ages 3 through 12th grade, as well as adult class offerings. For 2017, our program is just now taking shape. More details will be shared as they are made available.
Disciple Bible Study
These long-term Bible studies promote a deeper understanding of both the Bible and God’s claim on our lives. These classes form in late August and meet weekly throughout the school year. Once a class begins, class members form a closed covenant group for the remainder of the study. Currently there is a group meeting on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 pm.
From time to time, FUMCL offers Disciple Short-term Studies. These studies follow the same format as the long-term Disciple studies, but they meet for fewer weeks (8 to 12 weeks) than do the long-term studies.
