Worship

Each of us has a deep need to connect with God. One way to do this is through a corporate experience of worship. We invite you to come experience worshiping God with us. We’re not perfect, but every time we gather for worship, we experience God together. We see fresh evidence of God’s presence, blessing, and faithfulness to us. We hear God speaking to us through His Word. We get a chance to reconnect and recommit our lives to God again and we soak in the grace of coming to the Lord’s Table and celebrating the baptisms of new disciples of Jesus. All of this glorifies God in worship and makes us more whole, too.

We have three worship services on Sundays at 8:30am, 11:00am and 5:00pm. Dress is casual, come as you are.

At our 8:30am service, we partake in a warm traditional worship service with hymns, liturgy, our Chancel Choir, our Worship Players, organ and piano.

Our 11:00am service offers a spirited, newly launched informal traditional worship service with a keyboard leading us as we sing old hymns, primarily from the brown Cokesbury book. It is a relaxed, casual atmosphere in the Sanctuary. We currently have a nursery at this service.

Our 5:00pm service is our contemporary worship service with praise and worship songs led by a band of members and staff. We are laid back and meet in the fellowship hall of the church. We currently have a nursery at this service.

The same message is shared at all three services. The Word of God is very important to us at First UMC of Laurel. It is essential as we strive to follow Jesus.

Our church provides a staff-supervised Cribbery/Nursery for newborn to 4 year olds during Sunday School and at the 11:00am & 5:00pm services.

Communion is usually served on the first Sunday of each month but not always, keep an eye on the church calendar.

Be sure to check the church calendar for changes and additional opportunities to join together in worship on special occasions.

We are located at 424 Main Street, Laurel, MD  20707.  We look forward to seeing you there!

“Yet a time is coming and has now come when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.” – (John 4:23)
